UPF, or Ultraviolet Protection Factor, measures the Ultraviolet radiation or "UV" protection from the sun provided by a fabric, similar to the SPF rating system used for sunscreens. Swimsuits for All styles with UV sun protection have a rating of UPF 50, the highest possible, which means only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays can pass through, blocking 98% of UV rays.

While sunscreen use is still recommended when wearing these UPF 50 styles, as no clothing can completely block out UV rays, the fabric provides excellent protection. However, it's important to note that most fabrics may lose some of their UV protection over time due to repeated washing and wearing. Additionally, when the garment is damp or wet, the UV protection may be less effective, especially for lighter fabric colors. On any UPF 50 suit with mesh or other fabric panels, those panels would not provide the same UPF 50 protection.
